Detailed Itinerary: 4 Day Mgahinga gorilla & golden monkey experience safari

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Mgahinga National Park

You will be picked from your overnight hotel in Entebbe or Kampala by our driver guide who will brief you about your trip, make sure that you have all the necessary gear and paper work. You will then drive to Mgahinga National Park in southwestern Uganda with some stopovers at Mpambire royal drum makers to witness how drums are made from skins and wood. You will then proceed to the Equator crossing and then to Mbarara town for Lunch at Agip Motel or Igongo Cultural Center depending on the time at your disposal. After lunch you will take a scenic drive to Kisoro district starting with the flat lands of Ntungamo, and the rolling hills of Kabale to terraced hills and meandering roads to KisoroDistrick. You will arrive in time for a short relaxation, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Drive time: Approximately 9-10 hours

Lodging: Ichumbi Hotel Kisoro(Budget) or Chameleon Hill (Midrange) or Gahinga Lodge(Luxury)

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park

Morning/ Briefing: After your early morning breakfast, your guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters for briefing and joining others for briefing before heading into the forest for your gorilla trek. This trek can last for between 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of mountain gorilla family on that particular day.

Trek/Observation: Once you find the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them while observing their behaviour, taking photographs before you return to the Park Headquarters for your certificate that confirms that you have tracked gorillas in Uganda.

Afternoon: You will later have your packed Lunch before returning back to the Pak Headquarters

Evening: You will spend the evening relaxing at the Hotel, Later have dinner and overnight

Day 3: Golden monkey experience or Golden Monkey trekking

After breakfast, you will transfer to Mgahinga National Park headquarters for either full day golden monkey habituation experience or half day golden monkey trekking. You will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with golden monkeys and then proceed to the mountain/forest for your trek. You will be allowed enough time with researchers if you choose to do golden monkey Habituation experience and only one hour if you choose to do golden monkey trekking. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Entebbe International Airport

Today marks the end of your unforgettable 4 Day Mgahinga Gorilla & Golden Monkey Experience Safari in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. After breakfast, you will begin your scenic transfer back to Entebbe for your departure flight at Entebbe International Airport, bringing your incredible Uganda primate adventure to a close.
